Mr. Yokota (横田さん, Yokota-san) is a school teacher at Kurôzu High School. Kirie Goshima, Shiho, Katayama and Tsumura are just some of the students under his tutelage. He was turned into a snail person, then cooked and eaten alongside Katayama and Tsumura by a whirlwind gang. In the movie, his first name is given as Ikuo (郁夫).
Appearance[]
Mr. Yokota has black hair which is mostly slicked back, save for a small fringe.
He often wears a white button up shirt with black slacks.
Personality[]
Mr. Yokota is an enthusiastic man who is very supportive of his students and even other adolescents such as Shuichi Saito. He is generally kind and tolerant, but expresses fear and revulsion upon learning of the snail people eggs laid by Katayama and Tsumura, and crushes them. Despite this, he expresses interest and support for Shuichi when he is informed of his discovery of a new galaxy by Kirie, and is the one to suggest they consult Torino, an astronomer, to confirm it. Mr. Yokota is willing to help Kirie confront Torino after he claimed to have discovered the new galaxy, taking credit for Shuichi's work.
In the movie, Yokota is considerably more agitated and prone to angry outbursts. He yells most of his lines and almost constantly wears an expression of anxiousness/irritation, much like Kirie does in the manga.
