Keiko Nakayama (中山 恵子 Nakayama Keiko) is the cousin of Kirie Goshima who is one of the mosquito-infected pregnant women in the hospital.

Appearance[]

Keiko is taller than many of the other characters (possibly due to her being older) with has long straight black hair, light-colored eyes or dark-colored eyes and she seems to be wearing lipstick.

While Keiko is cursed, her irises and pupils seem to shrink, leaving most of her eyes white and she is usually shown covered in blood.

Personality[]

Keiko seems like a normal woman, but she quickly demonstrates some strangeness towards mosquitoes.

At night, she is overcome by a bloodlust, parading around the hospital with the other pregnant women and drinking the blood of the doctors and other patients. Consequently, she helps to massacre several people. At day, she seems not to remember any of it; either this, or she is an extremely talented actress.

Plot[]

Mosquitoes[]

Keiko

In this chapter, Keiko is admitted to the hospital and has to stay in the same room as Kirie Goshima, due to the maternity ward being full. She is almost immediately suspected by Shuichi Saito to be cursed, and, as usual, he turns out to be right: at night, Keiko joins the other pregnant women who had been bitten by mosquitoes to partake in rather mosquito-like activities herself, drinking human blood in order to feed her unborn child. She and the other pregnant women attempt to kill Kirie in this chapter and drink her blood, but they are defeated by a can of bug spray.

Umblical Cord[]

In this chapter, Keiko gives birth to a child who insists on returning to her womb where she is detained by Dr. Kawamoto, who performs an implicitly gruesome operation on her to grant the baby's wish, which causes her to crave blood once again; she chases after Kirie Goshima in an attempt to drain her blood, but Kirie escapes and she kills Dr. Kawamoto instead.

Abilities[]

Like a fellow mosquito-infected pregnant woman, it is assumed that Keiko can hypnotize people to sleep by moving her index finger in a spiraling motion. In Umbilical Cord, her tongue gains the ability to turn into a mosquito-like proboscis and suck the blood of Dr. Kawamoto.

Etymology[]

  • The name Keiko means "favor, benefit" (恵) (kei) and "child" (子) (ko).
  • Keiko's surname Nakayama means "middle" (中) (naka) and "mountain, hill" (山) (yama).

Trivia[]

  • Keiko is one of the many characters who were cut from the movie.
