Ichiro Tamura (田村 一郎 Tamura Ichirō) is one of the major antagonists in the movie adaptation. He is a friend/rival of Shuichi Saito who does not appear in the manga at all.
Appearance[]
Ichiro appears to be in his late 40s or early 50s, who is taller than most of the other characters with short messy black hair that has multiple grey streaks, dark brown eyes, his face has some wrinkles from age and he is usually shown with a perplexed expression.
Personality[]
When he first appears, Ichiro seems to be calm and collected who speaks formally as one would expect a reporter conducting an interview to do; however he is quickly shown to develop an intense obsession with the Saito family, and begins going to any and all lengths possible to collect information about Toshio and Yukie Saito's strange deaths. One of these lengths includes constantly hounding Shuichi Saito (to which the latter barely reacts at all).
He is also very committed to his job, going to lengths such as staying up through the entire night reading about the history of Kurôzu-Cho.
Etymology[]
- The name Ichiro means "one" (一) (ichi) and "son" (郎) (ro).
- Ichiro's surname Tamura means "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta) and "town, village" (村) (mura).
